Farm Updates from Stoney Creek!
This week brings exciting developments from the Drop Collaborative and Unaka High School SAE Program at Stoney Creek, Elizabethton!
We’ve kicked off our OSHA 10 General Industry Safety Certification Training, equipping students with vital safety skills as we dive into farm work.
On the farm, the lower barn area has been mowed and weedeated, with the help of the Diesel Offroad Program, which is assisting with the mowing and bush hogging. While we’re still waiting for the purchase of our own bush hog to tackle the upper barn area, the collaboration with the Diesel Offroad Program has been invaluable, and we expect more progress soon.
Additionally, we’ve started working on our raised beds and are making plans to source soil. The barn modifications are also underway, with ideas for chicken runs and class planning areas.
The farm is shaping up, and we’re excited to continue growing together with our students and partners! Stay tuned for more updates!
